Martin Luther King Jr. Day, is a federal holiday in the United States, commemorating the Martin Luther Jr’s birthday. It is Observed on the third Monday of January each year. Luther King, a prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement, advocated for nonviolent activism against racial discrimination. The campaign for the holiday started post his 1968 assassination, and it was enacted into law by President Ronald Reagan in 1983, first observed on January 20, 1986. Initially met with resistance, it became officially recognized in all 50 states in 2000.
